(CUSTOMER REVIEW) This book is a detailed insight to the history and art
of shaolin. Even newcomers to the martial arts will be inspired by the
many wonderful stories and legends about the shaolin temple, also the many
training methods that the shoalin practitioners still use today. In this
book it gives many detailed pictures of kung fu defence methods including
the five animal set made up of the snake, crane, leopard, Tiger and the
dragon. Each set is fully described as a set and how to apply each
movement in self-defence. This book is easy to understand so appeals to
both martial arts practitioners and people who would just like to know
more about Chinese kung fu, this is an excellent book a MUST for people
interested in martial arts. |

I have been
studying Lau Gar kung fu for a year. I bought this book six months before I
started studying martial arts. This book helps to create a better understanding
of martial arts whatever style you study. For all you Bruce Lee fans out this it
is not a manual that gives you step by step instructions of how to fight like
Bruce Lee. It is one's study of the different ways people of different sizes,
flexibility, speeds can express themselves in a combative form. It gives an in
introduction to Bruce Lee's theory's and philosophy's. I strongly recommend this
book to martial artists. The more you read this book the better you understand
it. I would recommend that it would help if you do martial arts this book will
greatly benefit you. An excellent read!

Having been involved in martial arts for over thirteen years in a multitude of styles I have built up an arsenal of techniques supposedly guaranteed to allow me to defend myself. In this book Mr O'Keefe tells it how it is - if a technique requires experience and constant practice over a course of years worth of training it simply will not work in a defence situation. Rather than producing a set of bound photos to follow Jamie departs from the usual "do this technique and this will happen" scenario and opts instead to give methods of tailoring self defence to your own needs. The result is that experienced martial artists and new-comers alike will all benefit from this book. It is concise and written in simple clear language - despite Jamie's wealth of martial arts experience there is no pretention in his book. It comes across that he really wants you to have the knowledge he is describing, in the hope that yet another person may obtain the confidence to fight back that knowledge brings. It is with books such as this one that the key to 21st century self preservation lies. For other related books by people who know what they are talking about, rather than by those who think they do "should anything happen", try Geoff Thompson's Real Self Defence and other books in his seried, and of course Jamie's other titles. Never before has the issue of rape been
dealt with as tackled by its author Jamie O’Keefe. It brings home the
reality that you may realistically only have six seconds of your life left

book is the most shocking but informative book you will read on the
subject of female self protection which, also serves as a guide to men. It
absolutely destroys the state of thought that martial arts will save your
life. It exposes all the pitfalls and examines why females will always
have to prepare for that hidden monster that hides inside most men! This
book does not just stop at Self protection for adults; it also covers the
dangers of child abduction, the dangers of children travelling to and from
school, and the horrific way that the mind of a child abductor works! Also

mugger, The law on sexual offences, Emotional cruelty and Blackmail,
drugs, knives and other edged weapons, Date rape, Road rage, Accepting

This is a very special and personal book indeed. In terms of a story it does get
a little repetitive and drone, but as an insight it is unbelievalbly powerful.
Geoffs views on life, his emotional problems and solutions spoke to me on a
level I never expected. I could relate to what he was saying and as I read I
became all the more wiser. This book has changed me and in the way I think and
deal with situations. It has taught me the importance of mental fortification,
and the power of the mind. Through his story I have realised that what we do
physically is only an echo of what we do mentally. |

It also shows the accounts of the criminals and shows why they target certain
people to attack etc. Geoff talks about the legality of self-defence, the
